- Lot Description
Atlas to Accompany the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies. Davis, George B., Leslie J. Perry, Joseph W. Kirkley, Calvin D. Cowles. Published by G.P.O, Washington, D.C.1891-1895, with errata dated 1902. Volumes #1 & #2 elephant folio measuring 18 3/4" high by 15 1/2" wide and 31î when opened. Original half-leather binding with dark maroon leather spine and black cloth boards with darkened maroon leather corners. Vol. 2 features double folio plates of uniform, arms, artillery, wagons, and transportation drawings including trains, wagons, and paddlewheelers. 158 total maps, 14 total plates (172 illustrations). Condition: Spine is missing on Vol. #1, as is top of spine on Vol. #2. Covers are worn, chipped and starting, with the binding firm. Interior is exceptionally clean with very little foxing or spotting and no tears. Vol. 1 - Plates IV, V, XXVI, XXVIII & XLIV are lacking. (No evidence of plate remnants, so it is possible that this is a binding error). Vol. 2 - No title page, possibly as issued.Spine is missing on Vol. #1, as is top of spine on Vol. #2.
