Chinese Archaic Bronze Censer or Ding, likely Zhou Dynasty (1122 to 256 B.C.) and later cover with jade finial. Censer is of tripod form with loop handles at ends and geometric designs around the rim and upper legs. Later carved, well-figured hardwood lid with carved and pierced jade finial depicting 4 deer in a landscape setting, and a pierced and carved hardwood stand. Ding - 8" H (including handles) x 7" diameter. Lid - 7" diameter, finial 1 1/4" H. Provenance: The collection/estate of Mr. and Mrs. W. Jeter Eason, Memphis, by descent to present consignor. Censer has worn verdigris surface, 3/4" crack to side rim, 1" repair to rim, 1/16" hole to side.
