- Lot Description
Carl Sublett (Tennessee, 1919-2008) abstract expressionist watercolor painting depicting a shoreline. Float mounted on Arches paper. Signed and dated '80 lower right. Housed in an ebonized and gilt wood frame. Sight: 22" H x 29 5/8" W. Biography: Carl Sublett studied Art History at the American Academy In Florence, Italy after World War II, and became Professor of Fine Art at the University of Tennessee. Sublett was a member of the National Academy of Design. His works are in the collections of the National Academy of Design, The Tennessee State Museum, and the Cheekwood Museum of Art, Nashville.
