1st item: THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER by Mark Twain. The American Publishing Company, Hartford, Conn.: Chicago, IL: Cincinnati, Ohio. A. Roman & Co., San Francisco, Cal. 1877. 272 pages with line illustrations. Blue cloth boards with gold and black decorated cover, plain spine. Considerable wear to edges, light scattered foxing and staining to interior pages, some edge losses to final 2 pages. 2nd item: RIP VAN WINKLE AND THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW by Washington Irving, with 53 illustrations by George H. Boughton, A.R.A. London: Macmillan and Co. and New York, 1893. 218 pages. Black boards with gilt decorated cover and spine. Original owner inscription E.H. Nichols M.D. Savannah Ga. to front end paper. Light cover wear, small tears and chips to spine, interior pages with light scattered foxing. 3rd item: THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS: A NARRATIVE OF 1757 by James Fenimore Cooper, illustrated from drawings by F.O. C. Darley. New York: D. Appleton & Co., 1873. Blue textured boards with gilt decoration and lettering. Wear to cover and losses to ends of spine, first few pages separating from spine, light foxing to pages. Note 1st and 3rd items have original owner inscriptions for Jo. C. Guild and Virginia Dale Guild, with bookplates. 4th item: DANIEL BOONE AND THE HUNTERS OF KENTUCKY by W.H. Bogart. Boston: Lee and Shepard, publishers, 1874. 464 pages, some with line illustrations. Owner inscription Jo C. Guild Jr. A gift from his Father Jan. 1875 with Jo C. Guild bookplate on frontispiece and inside cover. Red cloth boards with gilt decorated spine.
