Albert Spirlet Belgian 6-shot revolver; SN 3837; .40 caliber. Lefaucheux-style tip up pinfire revolver with a 5" heptagonal barrel, marked "AL. SPIRLET & Cie", on left side, with "ACIER FONDU" (molten steel) and a Crowned V underneath. Also with "LF" and rampant lion within a shield, the mark of gunmakers Lepage Frères, (brothers Charles and Alphonse LePage in business from 1857-1868). Cylinder marked with "ELG" and star within a circle, denoting Belgian acceptance between 1846 and 1893. Note: Albert Spirlet had 16 patents from 1860 to 1876.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Eldridge “Dit” Shively, White Pine, TN.
Loss of wood on the left wood panel of the grip. Overall wear to the metal, consistent with age and use. Operates smoothly in both single and double, cylinder advances properly; action break release and cartridge eject button functioning properly. Bore shows good rifling.
