1st - 12th items: Grouping of twelve (12) wood carvings of birds by various artists associated the John C. Campbell Folk School located in Western North Carolina. Types of birds include loons, geese, ducks and chickens and woods used include basswood and cherry. All pieces intialed by the artist. Artists names include, Hope Brown, J. Ledford, and Verda Anderson among others. Ranging in size from 2 3/8" H x 2" W to 7 1/2" H x 3" W. All 2nd Half 20th century. History: The Brasstown Carvers began in 1929 when a local Handicraft Association was organized at the John C. Campbell Folk School. All work was made in the homes of members who lived around Brasstown. 13th - 21st items: Assembled grouping of nine (9) folk art corn husk dolls, Tennessee or Kentucky, depicting female adults and children engaging in various activities including sweeping, carding yarn, gathering flowers, walking, and reading. One child figures represents Little Red Riding Hood. Some figure with maker's tags including three (3) with tags for Barbara J. Briggs, one (1) with tag for Linda Hubbell, and one (1) with tag for The Ritchies (KY). Ranging in size from 4" H to 10" H. 20th century.
All pieces in overall very good condition.
