18th and 19th century, autograph of South Carolina Governor in dark bold ink on a partially printed document dated "8th Day of February, 178."; along with a later colored steel engraving of Major General William Moultrie in his Revolutionary War Continental Army dress uniform, which reads "From the Original Painting by Chappel"; gilt frame, 18-3/4 x 13-3/8 in.
Notes: Maj General William Moulltrie (1730-1805) was a planter and politician who became a general from South Carolina in the American Revolutionary War. As colonel leading a state militia, in 1776 he prevented the British from taking Charleston, and Fort Moultrie was named in his honor.
After independence, he advanced as a politician; Moultrie was elected by the legislature twice over a period of years as Governor of South Carolina (1785–87, 1792–94), serving two terms.
Accompanying lot is purchase receipt from 1989.
In house shipping. Brunk Auctions provides in-house shipping via UPS Ground (signature required) for many items. Brunk Auctions will provide a shipping quote which includes shipping, materials, labor and insurance. Insurance is based on the selling price and premium.

Shipping arrangements are made only after the invoice is paid. The payment for shipping is a separate charge from payment of your lots.
Sales Tax: If you live in North Carolina and/or pick up from the auction house, and do not have a valid resale tax number on file with us, you MUST pay North Carolina state sales tax. The NC Sales Tax will not apply to any items being shipped out of state (unless the client resides in North Carolina) or to those clients with a resale tax number.
