(Prussian/Texas, 1869-1937)
Chief Bacon Rind (Osage, 1860-1932), signed lower right "S. Salomon Tulsa 1924", (American, 20th century), oil on canvas, 27 x 22 in.; carved wood frame, 32 x 27 in.; together with a photograph by Burnette H. Love of Chief Bacon Rind, signed in the negative and dated 1913, silver gelatin print, 10 x 8 in.; in original inscribed mat, gilt wood frame, 14-1/2 x 12 in.
Note: The artist presumably painted this portrait after the famous photograph (print included in this lot) of the Chief, a copy of which is in the Library of Congress, as well as many other historical societies and institutions. Condition
the painting with stretcher marks, slight area of buckling/crackle lower center; frame with minimal wear; the photograph mounted on board, lifting in places, abrasions, abrasions and spots apparently in the negative, original mat with tear at upper right corner; frame with minimal wear at corners

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
