- Lot Description
(Edgefield District, South Carolina, circa 1840s) likely made at the Horse Pen Creek Pottery, Kirksey's Crossroads, nicely rounded ovoid form with tannish green alkaline glaze, thick glaze runs from handles and shoulder, clearly applied iron slip "broken stem" decoration to both shoulders of jar, large arched up angled applied lug handles, rounded rim, 14-3/4 in.

glaze voids and anomalies as made, small chip to glaze at handle, two 1-1/4 in. hairlines to opposing sides of rim, associated 5 in. hairline in interior rim, four hairlines up from base, the largest being 5 in., 5-1/2 in. hairline around base with smaller hairlines running to base, hairline around base interior, 2 in. by 2 in. star hairline to exterior, illumination under blacklight of base interior, and exterior edge likely due to residue

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
