Guaranteed Years of Service! II, 2003, from the Sewing Susan series, signed in bowl "Susan Taylor Glasgow/'03", fused, draped, and sandblasted glass, panels sewn with sinew, 26-1/4 x 17 in.
Provenance: R, Duane Ward Reed Gallery, St. Louis, purchased in 2003 for $5,780 (accompanied by a facsimile of the original receipt and other documents); (Jerry and Deena Kaplan Collection of Modern Art and Crafts
Note: "My artwork relies heavily on the energy of personal artistic discovery. I would much rather plunge straight ahead with a new technique or idea than risk losing its freshness to over analyzing. As a result of the 'ask questions later' attitude, my unique style of sewing glass was born. In a way, my work is the result of homemaking skills gone awry. I have always embraced domesticity in spirit, but not in action. My life as an artist puts housekeeping last while instead I cook, arrange, and sew glass. As a result perhaps, I am fascinated by the perceived simplicity of the 1950's household, and often include that imagery in my work."Glascow was a NICHE Award finalist in 2002 and 2003, shortly after she returned as Emerging Artist in Residence at the Pilchuck Glass School in Washington.

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
