Sevilla Street, St. Augustine, Florida, 1984, signed lower left "S.S. Young", with original painting backing inscribed "To Margie Campbell, On Sevilla Street, Eastside, S.S. Young 1984", watercolor on paper, 13-1/2 x 5 in.; metal frame, 11-1/4 x 20-1/4 in.
Provenance: Note from the Consignor:
My personal belief is that Margie Campbell lived in Jacksonville, FL and Young gave the painting to her. I found an obituary where a Margie Campbell passed in 2020. She was living in the Regency area in Jacksonville and was a local artist, who painted also in watercolor and even had a solo exhibit at the local Cummer museum. She also won 1999 Jacksonville Artist of the Year from the Jacksonville Watercolor Society. I suppose unless Young himself confirmed this, we'll never know for sure that this is Margie Campbell who he gifted the painting to, but I believe that is who it is. It would also explain how the painting ended up in the Regency area thrift shop.
