probably 18th century, comprising: twisted handle teapot in cobalt blue and gilt floral decoration, strawberry finial, 5-1/4 x 9 x 5 in.; underplate with scalloped edge, 6 in. diameter; two tea bowls, one slightly larger 2-1/8 x 3-1/2 in.; two saucers, 1-1/4 x 5-5/8 in.; small baluster form tea caddy with enamel decoration centering two monograms, wood lid, 5-3/8 x 3-1/8 in.
Provenance: According to consignor notes the tea set was purchased from Village Antiques, Blowing Rock, North Carolina in 1989; Collection of JoAnn and Whit Whitley, North Carolina
Note: Accompanied by copy of note stating "Thomas Jackson had a line of clipper ships sailing around Cape Horn. He gave these dishes to his descendant Lydia Jackson who was married to Ralph Waldo Emerson. She gave these dishes to Sophia Colt who gave them in turn to her daughter Alice Cotton Whitney Burton who gave them to her daughter, Ariel Burton Pomeroy who gave them to her granddaughter, Cherilyn Renee Pomeroy".

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
