entitled “Brevel de Capitaine du train d’artillerie”, undated, document details the service of Captain Edme Devarrennes, including his date of birth (March 3, 1772), when he entered the artillery, his promotion to lieutenant, etc., it is an endorsement of Devarrennes by Napoleon, with Napoleon signature at the bottom “Bonaparte”, 13 x 8-3/4 in.; frame 16 x 113/4 in. very good condition, not examined out of the frame. Provenance: Estate of the late Robert H. Hirsch, by descent in the family
