- Lot Description
attributed to Bradwell Wood, Staffordshire, circa 1695, distinctive slip cast form, the cover with three applied acorn sprigs, the body decorated with applied flowering prunus branches on either side, low profile foot ring, with original unmarked silver mounts, 5 x 6-3/4 in., Provenance: Sotheby's, London, Lot 161, sold November 14, 1995; Garry Atkins, London, purchased November 16, 1995 for œ7,995; Property from the Collection of Dudley and Constance Godfrey; Note: The sprig decorated unglazed redware is partly influenced by Chinese yixing wares, which were imported by the Dutch East India Company and widely imitated by both Dutch and English potters.This distinctive teapot form was previously unrecorded among other works associated with the Elers brothers.
Condition
cover with chips to rim and flange, small edge flakes to pot rim, scattered losses to sprig decoration, tiny nicks to foot,ÿtiny clay voids and faint firing cracks at attachments (both as made), some scratches and abrasionsÿ

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
