Mallet Vase late 19th century, bell-shaped body rising to a slender neck, elongated garlic-shaped mouth, all except mouth and foot in deep blue glaze, six-character Kaishu mark in period of the Guangxu emperor in underglaze black, 9-1/8 in. restored abrasion on glaze at outer edge of mouth, minor glaze anomalies; additional repair at shoulder, at base rim, and at bottom of top rim at edge. Provenance: Estate of Michael Lawrence Vermeer, Atlanta, Georgia
