Brussels, 1729-1745, by Urbanus Leyniers, 1674-1747 and Daniël IV Leyniers, 1705-1770, after designs by Jan van Orley, 1665-1735 and Augustin Coppens, 1668-1740, scene depicting a hunting party organized by King Idomeneus of Salentum, Telemachus at center right is poised to lance the boar that charges at Idomeneus’ daughter Antiope at right, on a fallen horse, dogs attack the boar while the hunting party surround, frame style border with acanthus and stick motif, Brussels mark and “V.LEYNIERS” lower right of scene, 157 × 193 in.
Provenance: Acquired by Henry Symons of New York, NY; 1922 purchased from Henry Symons by French & Co., New York; 1927 purchased from French & Co. by William Randolph Hearst; 1951 inherited from William Randolph Hearst by the Hearst Foundation, Inc., New York; 1954 gift of the Hearst Foundation, Inc. to the Brooklyn Museum; Property from the Brooklyn Museum.

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction, or will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests.
