(New York/Michigan, 1825-1892) Indian Boy Hunting, circa 1866, signed on base "Randolph Rogers-Rome", Carrara marble, 38 in., surface weathering, crack through arrow shaft and loss to point, repairs and losses to headdress, lacking plumes, white paint accretion (drips) on base. Notes: Randolph John Rogers spent most of his productive years in Rome, Italy. He established a studio in 1851 and later employed sculptors to create his works in marble under his supervision. He became the first American to be elected to Italy's Accademia di San Luca.
