Le Jardin de la Marraine (The Godmother's Garden), 1875, signed lower left "Firmin-Girard 1875.", oil on canvas, 11 x 8 in.; fine 19th century gilt wood and composition frame, 21 x 18 in.
Note: This is a miniature format variation of the painting exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français, 1875, the Metropolitan Museum in New York in 1881 and the Art Institute of Chicago in 1889. According to Patrick Faucheur, "This painting, which was very successful during these exhibitions, was the subject of several copies in small formats."
