Carved Walnut Corner Cupboard
attributed to John Swicegood, Davidson County, North Carolina, circa 1800, single-case construction, broken-arch pediment with carved rosettes and set with three original turned finials over arched glazed doors opening to fixed shelved painted interior and flanked by moldings and carved devices, lower frieze over a single dovetailed drawer with line-inlaid drawer front and two cabinet doors, inlaid teardrop escutcheons, original feet and hinges, 106 x 55 x 23 in., very good condition overall, surface slightly cleaned or refinished (rich reddish-brown color), central buttons on rosettes possibly restored, crack at central finial plinth, outer two finial plinths with minor losses, drawer pulls replaced, upper case interior with later green paint, most or all door glazing replaced, later or restored rear foot, other scattered minor flaws, scratches, abrasions and wear.
