attributed to John Swisegood (1796-1874, Davidson County) or possibly Mordica Collins, 1820-1830, a fine example with single case construction, scrolled pediment with carved rosettes, central fluted finial support, arched glazed doors opening to a scalloped shelf fitted interior, flanked by pilasters surmounted by mushroom shaped reeded caps and rope carved quarter columns, over single dovetailed line inlaid drawer fitted with original acorn decorated gilt brasses, over two paneled doors with inlaid kite escutcheons, set on original bracket feet, undisturbed backboards with cut nails, walnut with poplar and yellow pine secondary, 97-1/2 x 49-12 x 21-1/2 in.

MESDA files record that this corner cupboard is in "fine original condition", excellent overall, original brasses, rear foot replaced, other feet original with surface bumps and later small nails, breaks and repairs with separation at one pediment scroll, probably old refinishing, upper doors lacking iron lock, otherwise retains original locks and hinges, appears to retain much of its early glass, probably original turned finials

Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
