Sir Joseph Duveen, Baronet (1861-1939) seated in a chair and holding a cigar, signed lower left "Harrington Mann/1921", oil on canvas, 40 x 30 in.; gilt wood and composition frame, 49-5/8 x 39-1/2 x 4 in.
Provenance: Leah's Gallery, New York City, New York, purchased in 2003 for $4,500. (accompanied by original receipt); Collection of David Bahlman and Howard Klosterman
Note: A fabled art dealer and cigar lover, Joseph Duveen handled many important works of art for clients that included Henry Frick, William Randolph Hearst, Henry Huntington, Samuel Kress, Andrew Mellon, J. P. Morgan, John D. Rockefeller Sr., and other illuminate. Many of these works of art can be seen in the core collections of American museums.

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
