possibly Northern Shenandoah Valley/Winchester area, early 19th century, highly figured walnut, top with removable inlaid light wood swan’s neck pediment and tympanum, two inlaid doors opening to a fitted interior with walnut dividers, lower case elaborately inlaid with fallboard opening to fitted interior with inlaid prospect door, long drawers with original brasses flanked by inlaid quarter columns, straight bracket feet, wrought nails and dovetailed construction, mellow brown color, scattered chalk inscriptions, 102 x 42-1/2 x 22 in., good condition overall, finial probably associated, some cracks and losses at pediment, minor shrinkage to door panels, lacking some interior dividers, fallboard with crack at one hinge and minor warping, feet with patches, repairs and later blocking (largely or entirely restored), minor sun fading.
