attributed to Boston, circa 1825, possibly shop of Isaac Vose or Thomas Seymour, with finely grained "Egyptian" variegated black marble top, molded and figured skirt, set on three deeply carved legs with lion's paw feet, bookmatched figured mahogany pedestal base, poplar and other mixed secondary woods, 33-1/2 x 37-1/2 x 37-1/2 in.
Note:The apron of this table is nearly identical to the apron of the tilt-tip pedestal table attributed to Vose illustrated Mussey Jr. and Pearce, Rather Elegant than Showy: The Classical Furniture of Isaac Vose, fig. 125.
Provenance: Parke-Bernet Galleries, Collection of Maxim Karolik, sale of the furnishings of his Bellview Avenue, Newport mansion, June 17 and 18, 1964. Accompanied by copy of photo from the catalog showing the drawing room, the center table can be seen as the centerpiece of the entrance hall (look through the doorway into the hall). It was painted white at the time.

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
