- Lot Description
circa 1790-1800, probably New York, shaped foldover top with lightwood edge and ovolo corners, oval paneled conforming frieze with finely modeled Prince of Wales feather inlay, string inlaid tapered legs, gate leg, 29 x 38 x 19 in.
Provenance: Estate of Lynda Miller Lipscomb, Charleston, South Carolina
Note: A card table with nearly identical Prince of Wales feather inlay is illustrated in Hewitt, et al., The Work of Many Hands: Card Tables in Federal America, 1790-1820, pg. 161, cat. 40. Furniture displaying this inlay is often attributed to New York cabinetmaker Michael Allison, a contemporary of Duncan Phyfe.
Condition
in a fine state of preservation overall, professionally resurfaced, top with shrinkages (some have been filled), one front leg repaired with later metal brace, small patch repairs near hinges, small segmented repair along rear of stationary top, other general wear expected with age and use

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
