and Exactissima Descriptio, etc. by Jacques Le Moyne (c. 1533-1588), one of the most important 16th century maps of the region, Cumming 14, Burden 79, was published in De Bry's Brevis Narratio Eorum Quae in Florida Americae Provincia, uncolored, includes an elaborate compass rose, two cartouches, royal arms from France and Spain, sea monster and sailing ships, 15-3/4 x 18-1/2 in.; brown wood frame with gilt decoration, some toning at the extremities, otherwise near fine. Provenance: Atlanta, Georgia Collection; floated, not examined out of frame
