circa 1740, the coat of arms halved with the left having three crows amongst a chevron in black and gray, impaling Willie or Sellie, the right side with three chevrons in iron red and gilt ground, surrounded by scrolling decoration in iron red, gilt and blue, gilt borders, rim with three foliate sprays, 9 in.
Note: "The armorial painting is unusual for in the dexter coat argent is silver leaf (tarnished) while in the sinister coat it is left unpainted, the only known example of both for impaled arms.
It is almost impossible to be certain about the dexter coat without first knowing whether the birds are crows, ravens, or Cornish choughs and even then there are more than a dozen families with this coat--one of these is Williams."
