Tropioleum Carieriancis, circa 1914-15, inscribed with title in lower right, watercolor over pencil on Original Castle Mill laid paper with watermark, 10-1/8 x 7-7/8 in. (26 x 20.3 cm.); parcel gilt frame, 16 x 13-7/8 x 3/4 in.

A centenary exhibition arranged by the Scottish Arts Council in association with the Edinburgh Festival Society [and shown at the] Victoria and Albert Museum, 30 Oct.-29 Dec, 1968, no. 296, pp 61-62, (accompanied by a facsimile of the catalog entry)
Note: Andrew McLaren Young states in the exhibition catalog, "Exceptionally, Mackintosh has not dated this study. It is, however, in the style of his Walberswick flowers of 1914-15. Mackintosh's spelling was always idiosyncratic: his attempt at the Linnean name of the flower shows it no less unusual in Latin than in English."

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
