English, 19th century, 9 in. octagonal rifled barrels, approximately .50 caliber, lock plates marked "Manton", top barrel flats marked "London", numbered "1" and "2" at rear of top barrel flats, carved ebonized wood stocks, finely engraved lock plates, upper tangs, trigger guards, butt caps, and hammers, pistols with single set triggers, fitted case with cleaning and loading rods, powder flask, and oil container
Note: Previously offered in Brunk Auctions Nov. 16, 2013 sale, lot 433. Private Collection, South Carolina, accompanied by letter dated 1993 from a former owner stating that the pistols were passed down in the family of Confederate General William Taliaferro.

metal parts with light rust and discoloration in spots, hammer spur of one pistol broken off but present, powder flask mechanism stuck in closed position with no visible damage to flask, both actions cock at full cock, one action apparently missing half cock notch, safeties do not operate possibly due to mechanisms needing cleaning, bullet mold missing, cleaning tools not original
Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
