(Italian, 1616-1687) The Apostle John Writing the Gospel, tetramorph eagle to his right, a 19th century [Grand Tour] copy, unsigned, oil on canvas, 37-5/8 x 31-1/2 in.; original fine Florentine gilt wood frame, original stretcher and tacking edge, minor retouch at bottom, crackle, cupping, minor flaking, grime, loose canvas; frame with some loss to carving and abrasions. Provenance: Du Mouchelle Art Galleries, Co., Detroit, Michigan; Estate of Charles Edward and Miriam Barr Mitchell, Woodlawn, Quinby, South Carolina
