FRANCE, 1828-1894 A large bronze sculpture of a pheasant cast after a model by Alfred Dubucand. The work was naturalistically modeled depicting a pheasant in an aggressive stance on rockery confronted by a lizard. The sculpture was finished in a polychromatic patination. The work is signed "A. Dubucand" on the base.
Provenance: A similar example was offered at Sotheby's New York, lot 424, September 28th-29th, 2004.
20 1/2" tall by approx 21 1/4" wide beak to tail by approx 7" deep
Minor wear to patina and small break to tail feather, overall good condition.
