Diego Rivera (Mexico, 1886-1957) unframed pastel and charcoal drawing on paper depicting an industrial or factory scene. Probably a study for "The Detroit Industry", a series of 27 fresco mural panels at the Detroit Institute of Arts in Detroit, MI. commissioned by the president of the Ford Motor Company, Edsel Ford (son of Henry Ford), and the director of the D.I.A., William Valentiner in 1932. Measures 16" in height with width of 20", and signed to the lower right "Diego Rivera". No certificate of authenticity accompanies this piece, but the style and signature are consistent with those of other known works of this artist. An original bill of sale from where it was purchased in 1942 by the famous Hollywood actor Jack Beny does accompany this work, and is hand-signed by Diego Rivera. Provenance: comes from the estate of a prominent Texas Collector. For more information regarding this artist, please refer to lot # 200 in this catalog.
