M. Edward Griff (Austrian, 20 th Century) oil on canvas depicting a cityscape with a canal in an open face frame. Signed by the artist to the lower right hand corner. Wooden frame measures 28” in height by 34” in width with the sight image measuring 24” in height by 29” in width. All measurements are approximate. In overall good condition with the exception of a hole to the upper left hand side of the canvas. M. Edward Griff (Austrian, 20 th Century) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. After his graduation, Griff went to Italy, Spain and France where he painted with many masters of today. Griff is of the Modern Impressionistic School and has long specialized in scenes of the river banks-Seine. However, in recent years his landscapes, and other European street scenes have come into prominence and received great critical acclaim.
