Louise M. W. Kamp (American, 1867-1959) oil on board depicting a girl sitting on a stoop and surrounded by flower bushes; signed to bottom left corner; measures approximately 24" x 28" with ornate gilded frame and has a sight image of approximately 19-1/2" x 23-1/2"; in fair overall condition with damage to bottom right corner. Impressionist painter Louise Mary Wahl Kamp, 1867-1959 was originally from Buffalo, New York and did her artistic training at the Albright Art Galleries Museum School in that Western New York city. She married and moved to Saugerties, New York where she furthered her studies at the Woodstock Art Association with Birge Harrison and John F. Carlson. During her life, she exhibited at the Buffalo Society of Artists 1914, the Salons of America in 1927, and the Society of Independent Artists, 1927 and 1937. The artist thoroughly loved the area of Woodstock, New York and her many impressionistic paintings of scenes from that area attest to that fact.
