- Lot Description
Larry Edwardson oil on board "Flag Day"; depicting a New York City apartment (number 33) at West 18th Street in lovely shades of blue, teal, and brown providing a nice backdrop for the bold reds and whites of the flags; marked to back "Flag Day-W. 18th St. N.Y.C June 17. 1963 Larry Edwardson 47 Fifth Ave., N.Y.C."; signed to bottom left corner "Edwardson"; unframed; measures approximately 40" x 50"; in Very Good condition. Laurence Christie Edwardson was born in Waltham, Massachusetts in 1904 and lived part of his life in Kensington, Connecticut. Much of his painting career was spent in New England and New Orleans, Louisiana. His work includes many Louisiana landscapes, portraits and religious subjects; and one of his modernist works is in the Historic New Orleans Collection.
