Jane Carlson (Massachusetts, b. 1930). Simple yet haunting watercolor of Queen Anne's Lace in a field, double-matted & framed under glass. Having framed height of approximately 27" with width of 25", and sight image height of approximately 20" with width of 18". Signed to lower right "Jane Carlson". Jane Carlson is active/lives in Massachusetts, and is known for impressionist painting. She hails from a long line of artists, hearkening back to David Claypool Johnston, a political satirist of the Civil War period, who also painted President Lincoln's portrait. Jane's early years were spent playing on and around the shore of Cape Cod. She feels especially drawn to the subjects of sand, sky and marshes. She enjoys painting the European countryside, with its architecture and vast array of textures. The first time she saw France, she was hooked. Jane's formal training was at the Massachusetts College of Art, in Boston, and the Art Student's League, in New York.
