Gennaro Favai (Italy, 1879 - 1958) oil on canvas depicting a view of Venice, dedicated to Sybil Whigham, titled, dated, and signed by the artist to the bottom of the canvas. Framed and matted, with the frame measuring 22" in height by 18-3/4" in width with the sight image measuring 15-3/4" in height by 12-3/4" in width. All measurements are approximate. Provenance: from the estate of Sybil Whigham, professional golfer 1920s - 1930 Gennaro Favai (Italy, 1879-1958) was born in Venice and studied under artist Vittore Zanetti Zilla after being expelled from the Venetian Academy of Fine Arts. He received increasing exposure after his work was exhibited at the 1904 St Louis Exposition, in the Paris Salon Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts 1905 exposition and the 1907 Venice Biennale. His work is currently on exhibition at the Musei Civici Veneziani in his home city of Venice, Italy.
