Frida Kahlo (Mexico, 1907 - 1954) unframed watercolor on paper signed lower left "Frida Kahlo 1951 Mexico" and measuring 11" in height with width of 14". Comes complete with letter of authenticity & provenance, please see photographs. In overall good condition, all measurements are approximate. Frida Kahlo (Mexico, 1907-1954) was born Magdalena Carmen Frida Calderon in Mexico City, the daughter of a German Jewish father & a Mexican mother. She began painting as the result of a bus accident, which left her bedridden for long stretches of time throughout her life. She lived her adult life in the shadow of her husband, Mexican muralist Diego Rivera, but her postpartum recognition as one of the most accomplished female artists of the 20th century rivals Rivera's own artistic reputation. Her works are exhibited in many prominent museums, including the National Museum of Women in the Arts (Washington D.C.), the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Dallas Museum of Art.
It is our recommendation that all pieces be examined in person by perspective clients or a dealer they have asked to give them a condition report. This is consistent with our terms of sale that all goods are sold as is and all sales are final.
