- Lot Description
Eiichi Kotozuka Japanese woodblock print "Three Snowy Herons"; stamped to bottom left of print to the side of the sight image as well as in the image to the bottom right; marked to back matting "Woodblock Print (I-173) 'Three Snowy Herons' Originated by Eiichi Kotozuka Uchida Woodblock Printing Co., LTD. Marutamachi St. Kawaramachi-nishi, Kyoto, Japan."; measures approximately 19" x 13-1/2" with matting and has a sight image of approximately 15-1/2" x 10-1/4"; print is in Very Good condition and matting is in Fair condition with some tears to back. Eiichi Kotozuka was a painter and printmaker from the circle of the Kyoto School artists, a group of artists like Tokuriki Tomikichiro, Takeji Asano, Ito Nizaburo or Kamei Tobei. These artists practiced a style different from the artists in Toyko, mentored by publisher Watanabe.
