- Lot Description
Empire chest of drawers; circa 1840; mahogany; features two drawers to top tier and four drawers to bottom (top drawer on bottom tier juts out); also features spiral turned leg accents to front and keyholes to all drawers (no key); wooden knobs; measures approximately 44" tall to top of second tier, 39" tall to top of first tier, 46" wide, and 20-1/2" deep. Originally from the estate of President Rutherford B. Hayes, then from an estate in Keene, VA, and purchased from the estate of Mr. & Mrs. Richard Middleton of Birdwood Estate (now Birdwood Golf Course) in Charlottesville, VA.
