This exceptional fire department emblem or marker was made by H. E. Bertram & Son, Long Island New York for the Elmont Fire Department (I presume). It is a heavy gauge cast iron painted emblem intended for attachment to a heavy surface, having 3-4" screws attached. It is painted in brown and red and depicts a ladder and pick, a fire hydrant, and bugles and horns in the center. It is very detailed and clearly a custom ordered piece. At the top it says EX Chief, and at the bottom Elmont NY. The device is in the shape of an iron cross.
Maker's marks are on the back.
You want to own this piece - it is beautiful through and through.
