This wonderful old ironing board is a primitive example of the genre, having collapsible metal legs. Especially ideal for museums or collectors of household functional arts.
From the venace.com website:
Miss S A Mort obtained a patent for the first truly folding ironing board in 1866. The invention also included a removable pressboard used for sleeves.Our example is about 1900/10 or so given its metal legs.
