Pair of black satin, crystal sequin pants (presumed to be Swarovski), with inset red panels along sides. Waist size about 37". 40-1/2" long, 29" inseam. The crystal motifs perfectly match the performer's Czar Nicholas jacket, on display in a museum with plain trousers. It is believed that this pair was made originally for that costume. (Liberace wore the costume also for the cover of his autobiography, and it is unclear whether or not he wore these pants in that photo.) It's been proposed that -- since no definitive photo can be found -- they might have been made for an ensemble member, but the extraordinary beadwork alone makes that seem unlikely. The motif of three gold crystals surrounded by six gold seed beads occurs 250 times, and each of those nine elements was hand-sewn. Each side panel is framed by 105 hand-sewn crystals, each of which is accented with about ~40 of the gold seed beads, all hand-strung. Provenance: From the estate collection of a personal friend and business associate of Liberace's. The last image shows three slips from her address book (redacted), which are not included in the auction. After her recent passing, the family consigned her collection to Blackwell. This item can be shipped in-house.
