Frederic Remington’s Trooper of the Plains 14 of 100
Frederic Remington’s Trooper of the Plains was the artist’s twenty-first subject rendered in bronze and copyrighted in late 1908.
The artist believed this model to be one of historical importance and sought to memorialize the U.S. Calvary servicemen who were assigned to patrol the Western states during and after the American Civil War. Remington researched specific details of the figure’s uniform, paying close attention to include his signature black felt hat and Jefferson boots. The trooper holds his pistol tight across his chest, fixed at his opposite shoulder and a sabre extends from his belt and hangs along his side. It recalls the artist’s earlier and highly accomplished model, The Cheyenne, from 1901. Both examples portray a single figure mounted on horseback, suspended in flight. Each horse, instructed by their formidable rider, is captured for a moment airborne galloping through a small patch of earth that grounds them to their base. According to Michael Greenbaum, “Probably one or two castings were made during the artist’s lifetime, but sales of all statuettes, which were recorded by Roman Bronze Works beginning in 1911, took place after his death. About fifteen castings were produced until 1921 when authorized production ceased”

COMMON QUESTIONS/EMAILS ASKED, ANSWERED:
"I NEED SHIPPING, I'LL WAIT TO PAY FOR THE SHIPPING WITH MY AUCTION." - Sorry, the Auction invoice needs to be paid first. Auction invoice separate than shipping invoice.
"HOW MUCH WILL SHIPPING BE?" - We use a third-party shipping company, we do not know what shipping may be. In most cases we use UPS or Fedex, but each item may vary depending on size, weight, shape, and ability to protect the item, and insurance.
"I WON THIS LOT FOR $1 AND IT COST 100$ TO SHIP!!!!!!! HOW TERRIBLE YOU PRICE GOUGE LIKE THAT!" - We have no clue what it will cost to ship to your state, or how much materials are needed to package your goods. We use a 3rd party shipper, we are NOT the 3rd party shipper. We use a 3rd party shipper and they pack items according to the item's needs. Some items may be needed to wrap each piece so it doesn't break in shipment.. supplies and time cost money. Not to mention insurance on the items is needed.
