ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This pair of yellow gold earrings are fun and exciting, while displaying large, bright red, oval-cut, ruby composite stones that are prong-set in a floating halo of sparkling diamonds, they dangle from huggie-style hoop earrings with channel-set diamonds. The huggie earrings are approximately 3.3mm wide.- Almost all the rubies used in jewelry are treated or enhanced by various methods that are accepted and approved in the industry. Less than 1% off all the rubies used in jewelry have received no type of treatment.
- Composite Rubies are made of a "composition" of genuine, natural, red corundum (ruby) and tinted lead-glass that is bonded together. Composite rubies look like beautiful, bright, red, high quality rubies, but are only a fraction of the price of natural rubies.
- Composite rubies require special care, different from natural, treated or untreated, rubies. If your jewelry item contains ruby composite and needs repair or adjustments, it is absolutely necessary to advise your jeweler that they are composites. Do not place composite rubies in chemicals or an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner. Warm water and a soft cloth is the best way to clean composite stones.
