Gilt bronze CLOCK, the movement placed on a column and supported by the muses Terpsichore and Erato. Enamel dial with dates and movement signed Lepaute. Scalloped base in sea green marble. Empire period.

Pierre Basile Lepaute (1750-1843). The house of Lepaute won a silver medal at the Exhibition of Industrial Products in 1806. Two comparable clocks are kept at the Château de Fontainebleau, one delivered in 1806 (F 448 C) and the other in 1809 (F 3528) for the bedroom of the Empress.
