Helaine Dorothy Blum, a sculptor best known for her bust of Albert Einstein, met him when he was working with her brother-in-law to free Jews from Nazi Germany, and they remained friends for the rest of his life. One of her limited edition Einstein bronzes resides at Cal Tech and another at the Neuropsychiatric Institute at UCLA. Ms. Blum also sculpted Rabbi Steven S. Wise, scientist Linus Pauling, and modernist composer Stefan Wolpe. She was scheduled to create a bronze portrait of Martin Luther King Jr., but he was assassinated before she could begin the project. A Cleveland native, Ms. Blum published a few short stories as a student. After she mistakenly walked into a sculpture class, she was asked to stay to be a model by the professor, sculptor and painter William Zorach. He introduced her to artist Max Weber, who also became a mentor.
Good condition, good appearance, not examined out of frame (Image with frame will be added in a few days)
