Emily Muir Am. 1904–2003 Portrait of a Downeaster Oil on canvas 30 x 27 3/4 in. 76.2 x 70.5 cm Property of Lewis and Susan Snow, Cumberland, Maine The sitter, a Mr. Ade, was Muir’s neighbor when she painted this portrait. She was a swimming instructor on Deer Isle, Maine where the current owner lived and had once taken swimming lessons from her.
