Conté crayon 8 x 10 3/8 in. sight 20.3 x 26.4 cm sight Property of Joan and Arthur Bugs Baer, Madison, Connecticut Provenance: The artist By gift to Mary Schiffenhaus To the current owner 1972 Mary Schieffenhaus was a good friend of the Hoppers for many years, and in 1968 inherited the Hopper's house in South Truro from Jo Hopper, his wife. Although there is no formal publication of the Hopper drawings, “Study for Cape Cod Morning” is illustrated in Gail Levin's catalogue raisonné opposite the oil for which it is a study. Copies of relevant correspondence between Levin and the Baers in regard to this drawing and “Cape Road", lot 64, are included with both.
