Framed watercolor portrait miniature, Portrait of a Gentleman, early to mid 19th c., 14kt gold (tested) pendant frame, reverse with engine turning/ guilloche designs, aperture with woven lock of hair, housed in a brown Morocco leather case, frame: approx 3 1/16"h, 2 1/16"w, 26.9 grams total (inclusive of all materials)

10.11.24-LOT 3053: Please note the miniature has not been examined outside of the frame, as it likely needs a jeweler/ jeweler tools to gain access to the interior, additionally I am not a gemologist and cannot speak to the quality of the gold, from a strictly physical examination, the pendant is secure at edge seam, the glass front being free from observed fractures, the gold having tonal variations concentrated along the edge and innermost trim, the leather case having typical minor surface wear such as minute spots of flaked loss commensurate with age and use, close visual examination under a loupe and UV light do not reveal evidence of restoration, damage, or loss to the painting, there is typical light build-up of surface grime and spotting between the glass and miniature commensurate with age
