- Lot Description
French Model Transitional Revolver, late 19th c., model unknown, double action, 11mm, 4.5" octagonal barrel, blade front sight, dovetail rear sight, six round cylinder, at left a knurled lever pivots to become the handle to operate the right side spring assisted shell ejector, the frame front is perpendicular to the barrel and unshaped, push down loading lever at right, serial number "636" is located under right grip, on right side of trigger, barrel underside, on ejector handle and ejector rod housing, markings include "crown of W" for the Paris arsenal, and British markings required by the Proof Act of July 1868 for imported small firearms at the cylinder back with "crown over BP" and "crown over BV", the right barrel flat marked with "crown over BP", "crown over "BV" and "crown over NP", bore is semi bright with discernible rifling and dark area at about 2.25", metal shows wear, action is good
